General FAQs

What types of Amanda Lee gowns are sold online?

Gowns sold in online are mostly pre-loved or sample gowns that have been made accordingly to a specific size, either for a showcase, or for a previous wearer. They are past season designs (but still beautiful!) looking for new owners. Though pre-loved, they are mainly in mint condition; any defects (if any) will be stated individually.

Are the gowns shown online available for me to try on in your boutique?

All gowns sold on www.amandaleeonline.com are purely for online purchase only. We do not stock these gowns in our physical boutique. Though we do not provide the option to try on the gowns before purchase, you’re free to bring the gown back to us for alteration services at a small fee, if the sizing does not fit you well after your purchase.

I really like a design, but the stated measurements are too big/small for me. Do you have the same design in multiple sizing?

Unfortunately we don’t… All gowns are uniquely made and we only have one piece, one size per design. Measurements vary from gown to gown, so please refer to the measurements stated in each gown before making your purchase.

Is there room for alteration in each gown?

Altering of Size:

Most gowns come with allowance at the seams, and may offer up to one inch room for alteration up. Altering a size down is possible for all gowns, but altering a size up is not encouraged. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to purchase a gown if you fit the measurements stated, or if you are smaller in size than the measurement stated.

Altering of length:

Front length of the gown can always be shortened to accommodate your height. Lengthening of gown will not be possible once the fabric is trimmed. However, there may be some designs that allow lengthening by adding a trim of details (such as lace) at the hem. This will alter the design of the gown slightly. You may check with your alteration provider for advise on this, or consult our team if you’re keen (Consultation and alteration fee applies separately, please refer to section “Alteration Services” for more information).

Is alteration included in the stated selling price online?

No, consultation and alteration is not included in the stated selling price you see. However, if you’re keen on doing alterations after making your purchase online, we do provide consultation and alteration on your purchased gown with a small fee (Please refer to section “Alteration Services” for more information).

Can I rent these gowns instead of purchasing them? Can you customize a gown for me?

All gowns listed online are not for rental; they are solely for purchase as it is. If you are looking at renting, or customizing a gown with us, please make an appointment with us here.

Return and Exchange

Can I return or exchange my purchase?

As all our gowns are preciously hand-made, unfortunately, we do not allow any return or exchange once an order has been processed. However, alteration is possible if the sizing does not fit you exactly. (Please refer to the section “Alteration Services” for more information.)

What happens if I spot a “defect” when I receive my purchase?

All our gowns have been inspected carefully, and any minor defects will be stated individually. However, as gowns are delicate items, and handwork is involved in every gown, there MAY be some minor “faults” which may be seen as a defect in a product, but is actually not. Such as:

·     Loose threads

·     Loose beads/ applique

·     Zipper getting caught in lace/ fabric while zipping or unzipping, leading to a tear. (ATTN: When getting dressed in a gown, it is STRONGLY ADVISEDto get a third party to help you with the zip or buttons. Attempting to zip up a gown by yourself will lead to the zipper getting caught in laces or fabric along the zip. This will lead to a tear in your gown. Be extra gentle in handling zips and buttons when getting dressed.
